Jack's story...
We are blessed to have two beautiful identical twin boys, Jack and Michael. At their 6 month checkup, their pediatrician commented that Jack should see a specialist about the shape of his head. It was the first he mentioned it and I was a little surprised. My mother was with me and commented she always thought his head was a bit flatter and that was her secret in telling the boys apart! Of course she had kept this secret to herself! I took him to see a doctor at Johns Hopkins who, after taking some measurements, informed me that Jack had a moderate case of plagiocephaly and strongly recommended orthosis. Again, I was stunned! He was also the one to break the news that insurance wouldn’t cover it and the costs involved. He then referred me to Star Cranial Center.
From the first call to Star Cranial, I knew we were in great hands. Laura has just an amazing way of dealing with children and nervous parents! Her level of patience and expertise is astounding. Kim also always greeted us with a smile and soon they both seemed like friends!

The process couldn’t have been easier. I was so impressed with the STARscanner and how quickly and easily it could take the pictures. That is so important with babies! I was also relieved to hear about the option offered by Star Cranial for credit with no interest. Since insurance wasn’t an option for us, the no interest payments made the decision a bit easier.
I think I am still amazed at how quickly he adapted to the helmet.  Laura told me it always affects the parents more than the children and she was right!  I have to admit I was incredibly nervous!  But literally from the second he wore it, he was absolutely fine with it.  I think sleeping at night was the only initial part that seemed to irritate him but I think that was because it was the middle of the summer and he was uncomfortable due to the heat.  However, he adapted quickly to that as well!  He also became fearless because he couldn't get hurt.  Bed time in his crib was almost like wrestle-mania!  That took an adjustment after the helmet came off because he realized he would now feel crashing his head into his crib. 
Exactly three months later, Jack was discharged! His results were amazing and even better than I imagined! His head shape is continuing to improve now even without the helmet. However, now it’s a bit more difficult for my mom to tell them apart!

I am so pleased with my experience and would highly recommend the services of Star Cranial. It’s an expensive treatment but can I truly say the lifetime results made it absolutely worth it!
